If you are always good you are not betrayed. On the other hand, you know who your enemies are, and what you have to do in order to protect yourself. When you are good to everyone, nobody is afraid of you. They show you their real character, without misleading you with false impressions. They act this way because it is tiring for them to pretend to be good (while they are in fact indifferent and selfish). If they feel that they don’t need to protect themselves from your wickedness, they don’t bother being gentle and hypocritical with you.
